Applications
for Dormer Pramet

Dormer Pramet’s solid carbide drills are ideal for production environments that require flexibility across various materials or face quality fluctuations when drilling stainless steel in continuous runs.

The FORCE series combines CTW flute geometry (Continuous Thin Web), a 140° 4-facet split point, TiAlN-based coating, and coolant-through design. Together, these features enable stable cutting with low thrust force and smooth chip evacuation.

This reduces edge wear and tool breakage, extending tool life and minimizing tool changes and machine downtime.

Note: Performance may vary depending on tool type and machining conditions such as spindle speed, feed rate, coolant, and machine rigidity.

Overview

FORCE X is a general-purpose drill designed to perform across a wide range of materials—including carbon steels, alloy steels, cast iron, stainless steels, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals—helping reduce tool changes during mixed-material production.

The series is available in drilling depths of 3×D, 5×D, and 8×D.
Both solid and coolant-through options are offered for 3×D and 5×D, while 8×D is coolant-through only.

The combination of CTW flute design, 140° 4-facet split point, and TiAlN-based coating delivers consistent performance in diverse machining environments.

Overview

FORCE M is engineered specifically for stainless steel (ISO-M) and heat-resistant alloys.
Available in 3×D and 5×D coolant-through designs, it excels in continuous, high-volume holemaking operations.

The 4-facet split point and CTW flute geometry ensure smooth chip flow and consistent hole quality, even in tough-to-machine stainless steels.

With longer tool life and repeatable performance, FORCE M contributes to higher productivity in mass production lines.

Compatible Materials

  • Stainless steel (with ≥11% Cr content for corrosion resistance)
  • Heat-resistant alloys (superalloys with high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance)

Lineup

  • Force M Drill Oil Feed 3×D
  • Force M Drill Oil Feed 5×D

Overview

The R100/R120 Series is made from fine-grain K10-grade solid carbide and is ideal for general-purpose holemaking in carbon steels, cast iron, aluminum, and more.

It’s especially useful when smaller diameters than the FORCE series (under Ø3.0mm) are required, or when machines do not support internal coolant.

While cost-effective, these drills still achieve tight tolerances (up to H8 class) under the right conditions—making them a reliable entry-level option.

Compatible Materials

  • Steel & cast steel (alloy content ≤10%, hardness <45 HRC)
  • Cast iron (Fe-C alloys with >2% carbon)
  • Non-ferrous metals (metals and alloys with minimal iron content)
  • Hardened materials (engineering metals >45 HRC)

Lineup

  • R1201.5 – Stub Drill
  • R1201.6 – Stub Drill
  • R1201.3 – Stub Drill
  • R1203.0 – Stub Drill
  • R1236.0 – Short Spotting Drill 90°
  • R1235.0 – Short Spotting Drill 90°
  • R12210.0 – Short Spotting Drill 120°
  • R1228.0 – Short Spotting Drill 120°
